~USHWY 1 Mt. Vernon to Solon & Iowa City~

Do You See the Man in the Red Shirt walking down USHwy 1....
A friend sent this picture to me just a few minutes ago and I had to share it with you.....It is AMAZING what FLOOD WATER DOES to a bridge and a road.

This is USHighway 1....the road Bob takes almost everyday to get to work or to pick up the kids.

We won't be using this road for a very long time.......

As much as I am trying to keep a positive attitude, it's really starting to get to me, I had to run into Marion just a bit ago and on the way home I had to pull over and cry. My heart just breaks for all that we have been thru and all that our city has ahead. I saw FEMA Trucks, MORE NATIONAL GUARD Vehicles and their Semi's. The officials said today, "If this had been an earthquake, it would have registered a 9.5 on the Richter scale."
The damage is of epic proportion. My heart just aches for my city of Cedar Rapids and all of it's wonderful people!!!

The LDS church is already sending trucks into the area with food, clothing and essentials. We're on top of these things like you would NOT believe, honey. Salt Lake City has been in touch with the bishops of that area even before it got bad. I know this from experience!
Smoochies and love to all of you,
Connie

Amy, if it's anything like it was for Katrina and Rita, trucks will be flowing into Cedar Rapids and DesMoines with everything ya'll need to recover and hopefully the insurance companies have learned their lessons with us and get rolling. Love Ya, Pat

Been seeing it all unfold around us but we are on high ground. Others in our county have been through it real bad too. Our county has also been declared a disaster area though it's not nearly as bad overall as what you guys are getting. Our area had extreme winds so there's lots of places that have trees down. Do you have a lot of water damage? At least I know this: You and your family are stong and you have the Lord. AND praise God, you're still cancer free! Hugs.. Polly

These photos are just incredible and I can only imagine the desperation and frustration of those who are misplaced and affected. Continue to stay strong, Amy. I know it must be so sad to see the area you live in so terribly destroyed.

love you,
Becky

God bless you & Bob, Amy....Our FDNY left with vacationing firefighters yesterday to help in any way they can....We will be setting camp with Habitat for Humanity next week to help in rebuilding. Hi Amy,
You and your family have really been on my heart. I think it is especially true when this happens somewhere that you know and that you have previously lived. I cannot imagine what this has been like for you but I do know that you are one strong woman and you will get through this with the wonderful grace of God.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)
